This guide explains how to change the password for your user account on the Manager, the management interface and dashboard for your Infomaniak products. This same password also allows you to log in to Infomaniak Mail and various iOS / Android applications such as kDrive, Infomaniak Mail, etc.
Changing your login password may affect access to your email because a password may be required for its use.
Change the User Account Password
To change the password for your user account:
- Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) or Infomaniak Mail (mail.infomaniak.com) from a web browser such as Brave or Firefox.
- Click on the icon with your initials or avatar at the top right.
- Click on Manage my profile
- Click on Edit from the Login Settings section under Login Password
- Enter the current login password and the new desired password.
- Click Save.
When changing the user account password, if it is linked to an identical Infomaniak email address, it may be possible to unify them or continue to use different passwords.
You can also change email address passwords only.
This guide concerns files attached by your correspondent that appear in the winmail.dat format when they arrive at your Infomaniak-managed email address.
These files are in no way dependent on the incoming or outgoing mail provider. It is a Microsoft-specific issue, as indicated on their support page or this page (in English).
What is winmail.dat?
The issue with "winmail.dat" attachments is quite common and can occur when sending emails from Microsoft software/clients such as Outlook. The "winmail.dat" format is used to encapsulate formatting information, attachments, and contacts within the message. However, this can cause problems when recipients use other software/clients that cannot correctly interpret this format.
Resolving the Attachment Reading Issue
Ask the sender to:
Resend the message without using the "winmail.dat" format, by using a standard email format such as HTML or plain text when sending messages, and/or disabling RTF formatting in Outlook settings before sending the email:
- Disable sending in RTF format for recipients who are not using Microsoft software/clients. To do this, they need to open your contact record in their contact list, go to the "Email Address" tab, and select "Send in plain text only"
- Compress the attachment into a standard zip file before sending it
- Use another software to send their message, such as Thunderbird, for example
If you do not wish to contact them again:
- Use free websites and online tools to decrypt the content and convert the "winmail.dat" file into a more or less readable format
This guide explains how to obtain your email addresses from the Swiss hosting provider Infomaniak.
Introduction
- It is no coincidence that Infomaniak manages several million email addresses:
- unlimited storage space
- hosted in Switzerland by a neutral and independent company
- synchronization of contacts & calendars across all devices
- online access to your emails with Mail (mail.infomaniak.com) and the Infomaniak Mail app
- professional Newsletter tool
- professional anti-spam and antivirus filter for inbound and outbound
- permanently backed up
Is a domain name required?
Except for the free @ik.me email offer (+ etik.com, etc.), an email address at Infomaniak is always created within a Mail Service, and this Mail Service revolves around a domain name which must exist and be configured for the email service to work.
Example: If you want the address jean.dupont@domain.xyz , you need to:
- own the domain name "domain.xyz"
- obtain a Mail Service "domain.xyz"
- create the email address "jean.dupont"
All of this is offered and requested during the ordering process on infomaniak.com (see below), preceded by the mandatory creation of a user account (for which you will need to provide your personal email address, or an already existing address in any case).
If the corresponding domain name is already registered with an external registrar, you may need to provide the correct MX records in the DNS zone.

- Install kSync on your Android device.
The kSync app is also available on F-droid.
Setting up kSync
When you open the kSync app, a step-by-step guide will help you configure the app according to your needs:
- Open kSync from your Android device.
- Decide if you want to sync tasks.
- Allow kSync to access the required items.
- Allow the app to run in the background for better synchronization (it uses more battery).
Once the app is open and pre-configured:
- Press the button to open the login window for your Infomaniak user account:
- Enter your login details.
- Under the Address Books CARDDAV tab, choose the address book(s) you want to display on your device.

- Start the synchronization with the button located at the bottom right.
Synchronization Settings
After pressing the account to synchronize, click the icon at the top right of the interface to adjust some important settings:
- Sync interval: You can change the frequency of synchronization (15, 30, 60 minutes, etc.) for each type of information (address books, calendars, tasks).
- Sync only via Wifi (and if so, with which networks...).
- Limit the display of past events.
- Display colors.
- Display contact groups.
General kSync Settings
Press the back arrow at the top left of the screen to return to the homepage.
Press the ☰ button and then select Settings.
How Synchronization Works
Once the kSync app is configured, the selected items are automatically synchronized with the default Contacts and Calendar apps on an Android device.
These apps will allow you to display or hide the address books currently synchronized with Infomaniak:
The synchronization is bidirectional by default, meaning that unless you make specific settings (see below), any changes made on your phone in the newly added address books and calendars will be reflected in your Infomaniak interface (Calendar and Contacts) and vice versa. You can add a contact in the address book currently synchronized with Infomaniak, as well as an event on the calendar:
Once added on either side, the information is synchronized at the scheduled interval:
Do not allow modification on the device
You can force read-only via kSync, which means the items are synchronized but cannot be modified by the device.
To do this, on the Infomaniak account settings page for the item you're interested in, in the Address Books CARDDAV or Calendars CALDAV tab, tap the action menu ⋮ to the right of the synchronized items. Check the "Force read-only" box:

This guide explains how to report a phishing attempt you may have fallen victim to.
Phishing, Fishing, Scamming...
Phishing is a fraud and scam attempt aimed at obtaining sensitive information in a fraudulent manner.
Typically, the victim receives a message in their email that appears to be from Infomaniak, their bank, or a trusted organization, indicating that a problem has occurred with their account.
The purpose of this identity theft is usually to voluntarily direct the user to a page and communicate private information that will then be exploited for various purposes, mainly financial.
Prerequisites
- check that the spam filter is active
- for added security, activate the external mail tag
How to Report a Phishing Email
To do this:
- log in to Infomaniak Mail (mail.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox
- open the phishing message and click on the action menu ⋮ on the right
- from the menu that appears, select Report as phishing:
- confirm to send for processing
- delete the email
Once you have clicked on Report as phishing, an email is automatically sent to Infomaniak with all the necessary information for handling the scam report.
In case of a more serious problem (when the message is directly addressed to you by an acquaintance or a contact without it being a large-scale sending) it is recommended to reach out to an organization like www.report.ncsc.admin.ch.
