This guide details the use of voice messages within kChat conversations by Infomaniak.
Sending a Voice Message on kChat
To record a voice message using your device's microphone and send it to the ongoing discussion (e.g., private message but also anywhere you can send a text message):
Click on the microphone icon from the new message composition window
Any necessary permissions will be requested for kChat to access your voice and audio interface
Once the message is being recorded, click on the cross on the right of the recording to delete it, or on the âś“ icon to save it
Once saved, the message is not sent immediately but added to your message; you can listen to it again, delete it, add text, etc.
Once sent, the message appears in the ongoing discussion:
Listening to a Voice Message on kChat
To listen to the voice message recorded in the ongoing discussion:
- Click on the â–¶ (Play) button to start listening
- Click again (⏸ (Pause) button) to stop playback
Reading the Content of the Voice Message through Automatic Transcription
You can read an automatic transcription of the voice message, allowing you to understand its content without noise:
Click on the button located on the right to get a quick and automatic transcription of the audio
- The initial transcription appears directly below the message
- A link allows you to view the full transcript of messages heard in the voice excerpt in a small sidebar window
Downloading the Voice Message
To save the voice message to your preferred location:
Click on the action menu â‹® to open a menu
- Initiate the download of the voice message to your hard drive
