This guide concerns the management of users for Swiss Backup for Acronis backups.
Swiss Backup Administrator
Your SBA-XXXX-ADMIN account, obtained after configuring Swiss Backup on the Infomaniak Manager, by default, has access to all licenses, devices, locations, and all the quota at its disposal:
- Login to the Acronis Console (acronis.infomaniak.com) — refer to this guide (click here) if needed.
- On the homepage, an administrator account will always see the management button, which is not the case with a limited account:
- This grants access to the section reserved for admin accounts (or "company leaders" as per the terms visible on the acronis.infomaniak.com platform):
If you have acquired 2 licenses/devices, and your total storage quota for Acronis is 1 TB (for example):
- 1 Mobile
- 1 Server
Your SBA-XXXX-ADMIN account can back up 1 mobile device and 1 server; the storage quota of the 2 devices will be shared but limited to 1 TB.
In the Acronis interface, you will see an "unlimited" quota, but it remains limited to the options you have chosen in the Swiss Backup Manager.
To have better control over storage quotas and service quotas (licenses), create users in Acronis. This allows you to:
Add a User
There are two types of user accounts: administrator accounts and user accounts (refer to Acronis' documentation for more information). Only an administrator account can add/remove users:
- Login to the Acronis Console (acronis.infomaniak.com) — refer to this guide (click here) if needed.
- Click on Manage Account in the left sidebar.
- Click on Company Leaders.
- Click on the Users button.
- Click the + New button at the top of the page.
- Fill in the information (refer to Acronis' documentation for this).
Delete a User
Caution:
- Deleting the device is irreversible, and all backed-up data will be removed from Infomaniak's servers.
- The machines associated with this user will be unregistered.
- All protection plans will be revoked from all machines associated with this user.
To delete the account:
- Login to the Acronis Console (acronis.infomaniak.com) with an Admin account.
- Click on Manage Account in the left sidebar.
- Click on Company Leaders (as in this example).
- Click on the action menu ⋮ to the right of the user in question in the displayed table.
- Deactivate the account.
- Once the account is deactivated, delete the account (from step 5 above).
Linking Device and User
Example
Storage 1 TB
Licenses 2 Mobiles, 1 Server, 1 VM
- SBA-XXXX-ADMIN (limited to quotas from the Infomaniak Manager by default)
- User1 (storage quota: 800 GB, service quota: 1 Mobile, 1 Server)
- User2 (storage quota: 200 GB, service quota: 1 Mobile, 1 VM)
To link a device to a user, download and install the Acronis agent on the respective device and confirm the registration with the correct account (SBA-XXXX-ADMIN, user1, or user2):
For troubleshooting registration issues, refer to this guide (click here).
This guide explains how to install the Acronis Backup Agent for Swiss Backup on Apple Macs equipped with M1, M2... processors using an ARM architecture instead of the usual x86 architecture.
The uninstallation guide can be found here (click here).
Install the Specific ARM Acronis Agent
To access the Acronis management interface:
- Log in to the Acronis Console (acronis.infomaniak.com) — refer to this guide (click here) if needed
- Click on the user icon at the top right
- Click on Downloads
- Choose the client suitable for your machine
Caution
If you take the version available from the left sidebar, it will not be compatible:
- Do not follow this method below because the version obtained will not be the correct one (Intel version):
This guide explains how to delete a Swiss Backup using Acronis and the different scenarios you may encounter during deletion. Also refer to the Acronis guide for more information.
Prerequisites
- At least one device must be registered (and online) with the same credentials used to perform the backup
e.g. if the goal is to delete a backup made by SBA-XXXX-ADMIN but no device is online, simply download Acronis on another device and register it with the same user
- Deleting requires free space
consider increasing your user quota (help); once deletion is done, you can revert the quota to the agreed level
- Refresh storage
if a recent deletion was made, be patient as it may take time depending on the archive size; if storage space used hasn’t changed, refresh the backup location
Delete an Acronis Backup
For this:
- access Backup Storage son the Cyber Protect console
- select the location from which you want to delete backups
- select the backup archive you wish to delete backups from
Delete the entire backup archive
- click on Delete
- deleting a backup archive removes all backups from that archive
Delete a specific backup within the backup archive
- click on Show Backups
- select the backup (restore point) you want to delete
- click on Actions > Delete
- when deleting a backup archive, check the box and click Delete to confirm your decision
- when deleting a specific backup, click Delete to confirm your decision
Delete all backups related to a user
- even if no device is online, you can Disable > Delete (refer to the Acronis guide for more information)
Delete incomplete backups (if any)
- see this article for detailed instructions
Certificate
If the storage quota issue/purge problem persists even after increasing the storage quota of the relevant user, it is recommended to reinstall Acronis.
When Acronis is completely uninstalled, it removes the certificate that may be causing this bug.
To manually remove the certificate without uninstalling Acronis:
- locate and delete/move the certificate - guide
- restart Acronis Managed Machine Service - guide
- perform a backup or refresh storage
- this will generate a new certificate and resolve the storage quota issue

This guide explains how to modify an Swiss Backup offer, the backup solution in an independent Swiss cloud.
Modify the Swiss Backup Offer
To access the modification of the Swiss Backup offer:
- Login to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox
- Click on the icon in the top right corner of the interface (or navigate through the left side menu, for example)
- Select Swiss Backup (universe Cloud Computing)
- Click on the name of the relevant object in the displayed table
- Click on the action menu ⋮ to the right of the Swiss Backup space name
- Click on Modify Offer:
- Adjust the offer according to your needs by modifying:
- storage space
- number of devices
- number of virtual machines via Acronis
- number of Linux / Windows servers via Acronis
etc.
- Click on Next and proceed to payment
You can also manage the offer directly on the product dashboard:
Examples of Offer Modifications
The user initially wanted to:
- back up with Acronis an iOS / Android mobile device
- + have a free Cloud-type backup for backing up via SFTP or similar.
Since then, the user prefers to:
- back up 2 devices via Acronis (still the mobile device but also a Windows computer) without keeping a free backup
Here's how the quota modifications work:
Only paying for the contents of the cart would be left for the offer modification to apply.
Attention:
In order to change the offer by removing a type of device that you no longer need, the device in question must no longer be registered on Acronis (and therefore the quota mentioned on the offer modification page should be 0 /1.
The case below requires prior deletion of the ongoing backup (website backup in this example) from your Acronis dashboard.
Indeed, if the goal is to completely modify the offer (to switch to a single backup of a Windows computer, for example) and the website backup is no longer necessary, you will not be able to complete the order due to the message "The number of selected licenses is less than the current usage of your product" that appears when you try to set the quantity of the type of backup you no longer need to zero:
So in this case:
- Login to the Acronis dashboard with the credentials of the backup location (help)
- Delete the relevant device from the Devices menu
- Wait for about ten minutes for the quotas to update
The quota of your current devices, visible on the Infomaniak Manager, must go to 0. Only then will it be possible to modify the offer according to your wishes, without encountering any blocking errors.
To restore a Swiss Backup backup to a virtual machine, read the Acronis documentation on this subject.
This guide details how to back up a Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, …) using Acronis on Swiss Backup, the backup solution in an independent Swiss cloud.

- create a new project on Google Cloud Platform (console.cloud.google.com) as a super administrator

It is not possible to migrate end customers or end customer backups between 2 Swiss Backup accounts.
