This guide helps to resolve a status issue (OK, syncing, etc.) that may occur with files and folders in the kDrive tree in Windows Explorer when these indicators no longer reflect reality.
Resolve the Incorrect Status Issue
The issue is visible in the kDrive log as follows:
20240616_2008_kDrive.log:2024-06-16 20:19:01:349 [I] (6732) socketlistener.cpp:46 - Sending SocketAPI message --> STATUS:OK:D:\kDrive\Photos\Personal\2024\06_June\0616_Bern\HP7A6181.JPG to 0000025197E46A60
The application sends the correct file status to the explorer; here, for example, the status sent is OK, the displayed status icon should be the green circle, but the displayed status does not match:
Restart Windows Explorer
To do this:
- Access Task Manager by pressing
ctrl shift + esc
- In Task Manager, look for Windows Explorer
- Right-click on it and click on End Task
- In the upper left corner of Task Manager, click on File
- Click on Run new task
- Type:
explorer.exe
- Press Enter
Check and Repair System Integrity
To do this:
- Open the command prompt with administrative access
- Type each command below and wait for the scan to complete:
SFC /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
This guide explains how to exclude files and folders from a kDrive synchronization on your computer, and what types of files are already excluded by default.‍
Manage Excluded Files in kDrive
To do this:
- Left-click on the app icon in the notification area of your computer (top right on macOS, bottom right on Windows, and double left-click in the taskbar on Linux)
- Click on the action menu â‹® in the top right of the application
- Click on Preferences
- Click on Files to Exclude (under the Advanced section)
- To add files to exclude, click on the ‍‍ Add icon and then enter the name
- To exclude a collection of files, specify e.g., *.bak (asterisk "wildcard" preceding the file extension)
- If you add the name of a folder, it will not be / no longer synchronized, including its content, subfolders, etc.
- To remove files/folders that you had added to exclude from synchronization, simply click on the ‍ Delete icon all the way to the right of the relevant line
- It is possible to hide synchronization warning messages for excluded files by checking the box to the right of the excluded file
- Click on the blue Save button
Files that are excluded by default (items in the list impossible to delete) vary depending on the OS and are excluded because they represent synchronization error risks.
Also read this guide about the "Synchronize hidden files" checkbox.
This guide deals with issues that may arise when using Infomaniak applications (such as kChat, kDrive, kAuth, etc.) or tools (like config.infomaniak.com, the Infomaniak Manager, etc.) with outdated hardware (OS, browser, devices, etc.). For example, it may not be possible to comfortably access Infomaniak services with an iPhone 5s or 6 running iOS 12.
Technologies Used by Infomaniak
Many web tools developed by Infomaniak use Angular. The need for up-to-date or recent hardware to run the applications is not specific to Angular itself but rather a general requirement for running any modern web application. Here are some reasons why up-to-date hardware is often necessary:
- Modern Browser: Angular uses advanced features of modern browsers to provide an optimal user experience; older browsers may not support these features or may not support them optimally, which can lead to compatibility and performance issues.
- Performance Optimization: Newer browsers are generally optimized to execute JavaScript code faster and to handle complex graphic rendering more efficiently; Angular applications can be quite complex and leverage these optimizations to provide a better user experience.
- Security: Older browsers may have known security vulnerabilities that could be exploited by attackers to compromise the security of the web application; newer browser versions tend to address these vulnerabilities and offer a higher level of security.
- Standards and Compatibility: Newer browser versions are typically compliant with the latest web standards, which means they are more compatible with new technologies and the latest HTML, CSS, and JavaScript specifications used by frameworks like Angular; using an outdated browser can lead to rendering issues or missing features.
- Support for Modern APIs: Newer browsers support modern APIs that allow developers to access advanced features such as geolocation, camera, push notifications, etc.; Angular applications can integrate these features to offer richer and more interactive user experiences, but these features rely on browser support.
This guide explains how to fix an "Unable to start Lite Sync plugin" error with the kDrive application on macOS.
The Lite Sync extension does not have the necessary permissions.
Check the presence of the extension
From a Terminal:
% systemextensionsctl list
The result looks like:
1 extension(s)
--- com.apple.system_extension.endpoint_security
enabled active teamID bundleID (version) name [state]
* * 864VDCS2QY com.infomaniak.drive.desktopclient.LiteSyncExt (3.5.0/1) kDrive LiteSync Extension [activated enabled]
If the command output does not mention "kDrive LiteSync Extension", the extension is not present:
- remove sync and add it again
If the result of the command does not have the status [activated enabled] :
- allow the extension in System Settings / Privacy and Security
Check extension permissions
In System Settings / Privacy and Security / Full Disk Access :
Check the operation of the extension
From a Terminal:
% ps -ef | grep LiteSyncExt
The result looks like:
0 7434 1 0 1:02 ?? 0:25.42/Library/SystemExtensions/6035BDE4-B7D6-477E-A6AB-C2281E3C7752/com.infomaniak.drive.desktopclient.LiteSyncExt.systemextension/Contents/MacOS/com.infomaniak.drive.desktopclient.LiteSyncExt
If the extension does not seem to be working, try the following actions:
- restart the app
- reboot the Mac
- remove / add sync
- uninstall / reinstall the app
If it's still not OK:
- request logs (Debug level)
- see in the Console if there is a blocking report on the date of the last start of the app and if so, send it to us
Retrieve kDrive messages in the Console:
- quit the app
- in the Console, select the Mac, filter on “[KD]”, click on “Start”
- launch the app
- click in the list of messages, select them (Ctrl+A), copy them (Ctrl+C) and send them to us
This guide explains how to enable or disable dark mode on your operating system (macOS / Windows) since the Infomaniak tools' "automatic" theme setting (image below) is based on the Dark mode or Light mode setting of the OS:
Managing Dark or Light Mode
on macOS
- Click on System Preferences...
- Click on Appearance and choose Dark mode on the right
on Windows
- Open the Start menu
- Click on Settings
- Click on Personalization then Colors
- Click on Dark
This guide explains how to copy data from one kDrive to which your Infomaniak user has access to another kDrive to which the same Infomaniak user has access within a web browser. To be the user of multiple Organizations, you must have been added to them (read this guide) and have been granted access rights to the respective kDrives.
Introduction
If, for example, the user abc@domain.xyz has within their "ABC" Organization a kDrive "ABC" and is invited to the "VWX" Organization which has granted them access to the "VWX" kDrive, they will see 2 kDrives on kdrive.infomaniak.com and can send data from one to the other in 1 click.
Without being a user of multiple Organizations, it is also possible to copy data (but only the entire contents of a kDrive, without being able to choose specific data): read this guide about it.
Copying data between multiple kDrives
To copy a folder or file to the other kDrive to which you have access from the same user account:
- Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Edge
- Click on the icon at the top right of the interface (or navigate using the left sidebar menu, for example)
- Select kDrive (under Collaborative Tools)
- Click on the name of the relevant item in the displayed table
- The kDrive's tree structure appears in the left sidebar menu
- If necessary, select the other kDrive from which you want to copy files
- Click on the action menu â‹® on the right of the folder or file you want to copy to the other kDrive
- Click on Copy to another kDrive
- Choose the relevant kDrive:
- Choose the destination location (knowing that the common folder cannot receive a file or folder at its root but you can create a subfolder using the appropriate icon)
- Click on the blue button to start the copy
If you want to import all the data contained on the other kDrive in its entirety at once, you can follow this guide and choose kDrive at step 9.
