Manage the UTM tags of a Newsletter
This guide concerns UTM tags, or Urchin Tracking Module, tags added to URLs to track and analyze the performance of online marketing campaigns from the tool Newsletter Infomaniak.
Preamble
- These optional UTM tags are composed of specific parameters, such as source, medium, campaign, term and content, which help to identify the origin of a link's traffic.
- Using UTM tags, marketers can understand which campaigns generate traffic, which channels are most effective, and which ads or strategies work best, based on the data collected by web analytics tools.
- UTM tags thus allow you to create a match between the links in your Newsletters and the tracking of a tool like Google Analytics on your site.
Enable UTM feature
To access your Newsletter:
- Click here in order to access the management of your product on the Manager Infomaniak (Need help?).
- Click on the domain name relevant in the table that appears.
- The interface of the Newsletter is displayed.
Activate this option at the very first step of creating your Newsletter. You will find 3 fields to indicate type keywords utm_parameters:
- source of the campaign ( utm_source)
- campaign support ( utm_medium So, e-mail e.g.)
- name of the campaign ( utm_campaign = on name of your campaign e.g.)
Therefore:
- Inform the 3 UTM fields in step 1 of creating Newsletter.
- Insert a link to the URL of your site (this should be correctly configured and analyzed by Google Analytics e.g.) in the body of the Newsletter in step 3.
- When the drive clicks on it, it will arrive on the URL followed by the terms "
?utm_source=...&utm_medium=...&utm_campaign=...
"with obviously your keywords instead of "...
".
If you specify several keywords in these fields, possible spaces will be replaced by signs underscore _
.
Later, dynamic formulae, such as the date of the day, are expected to be included in these fields. Also read the article https://news.infomaniak.com/comment-creer-un-objectif-google-analytics.
