Manage error pages with Site Creator
This guide allows you to redirect visitors arriving on non-existent pages (former pages of an old website, e.g.) in case your site is currently managed with Site Creator Infomaniak.
Prerequisites
- Know the address (URL) of the page that has become non-existent.
- Go to Site Creator:
- Click here in order to access the management of your product on the Manager Infomaniak (Need help?).
- Click directly on the nameallocated to the product concerned.
- Click on Customize my site:
Send visitors to the new Site Creator page
In the left side menu of Site Creator:
- Click on Adjustments.
- Click on SEO & Meta Tags in the part Site configuration.
- Enter the address of the old page (without the name of your site) under Redirect.
- Enter the address of the new page (or
/
to redirect the visitor to the root of your site, i.e. the home page): - Save with the blue button at the bottom of the page.
For example:
- Your previous website contained a contact page at
domainxyz.com/company/contact.html
. - Now your contact page is on
domainxyz.com/about
. - So you have to come in.
company/contact.html
in the left field - and
about
in the right field so that visitors still arriving on the old address (because of a not-up-to-date search engine or a click on a favourite e.g.) are automatically transferred to the new page.
A method alternative consists of: add a new page Site Creator on behalf of your old page address, then specify a redirect to the URL of your choice, and make it invisible thanks to the toggle switch below the redirect field:
