Understand kDrive folders (personal, common, shared)

This guide details the structure kDrive Infomaniak: online interface, menus to manage and retrieve shares, utility and meaning of default folders, etc.

Preamble

• This guide applies to the Web app kDrive (online service) kdrive.infomaniak.com).
• The kDrive desktop app (desk application on macOS / Windows / Linux) is not directly affected (and will not display certain items).
• The files Common and menu Sharesare visible only with certain multi-user offers.
• Do not rename and/or move folders created by default or on the web version and even less locally, as this creates synchronization problems.

Architecture of a kDrive

The kDrive interface offers a left side menu that leads you to the main user directories:

1. The menu Common folders (Common folders - previously visible with the mention Common documents) displays the folder tree shared automatically to some or all users of the same kDrive; if they contain documents they will be displayed at the centre of the interface.
2. The menu My personal file (My personal folder) displays the folder tree of the user's own folders: indeed, each user kDrive has its own personal space which will not be shared with other users of the same kDrive; any documents will be displayed at the centre of the interface.
3. The folder Shares (Shares) displays:
   • items that are shared to you by other kDrive users, among the kDrives you have access to with your login ID
   • the items you share with other users
   • the elements you have shared by creating a sharing link
   • on Deposit boxes

Set default display when starting

You can choose with which home page to start browsing within the online kDrive, from the following 3 proposals:

• your personal file
• the file of common documents
• favourites (which gathers documents added as a favourite by your user)

To access kDrive and change the home page:

1. Click here in order to access the management of your product on the Manager Infomaniak (Need help?).
2. Click on the icon Parameters ‍‍ Top right.
3. Check or select the relevant kDrive from the drop-down menu in the left side menu.
4. Click on General in the left side menu.
