Synchronize Contacts & Calendar (iOS apps) with CardDAV/CalDAV profiles

This guide explains how to connect mobile apps Contacts and CalendariOS (iPhone, iPad, etc.) with contacts & calendars hosted at Infomaniak.

Preamble

• Your iOS device will be automatically configured through configuration profiles .mobileconfig Apple compatibles contrary to a manual configuration.
• Infomaniak contacts & calendars are linked to your Infomaniak user account. When you connect to contacts.infomaniak.com or calendar.infomaniak.com I'm sure you've got it. double validation ( 2FA) to be performed when connecting.
  • In this case, a application password is necessary to establish a synchronization between your device and Infomaniak tools.
  • But don't panic, creating such a password is offered by following the configuration wizard (point 4 below).
• It is possible to delete a configuration profile once installed (down at the bottom of this page for explanations).
• Infomaniak tools are compatible with any application supporting in particular CardDAV/CalDAV.
  • For additional assistance contact the support of the software used or Partner — discover also the role of the host.

Install a configuration profile

To this end:

1. Click here in order to gain access to the Infomaniak configuration tool (online service) https://config.infomaniak.com) — log in if necessary to your Infomaniak account on the Organization on which your email address is managed.
2. Choose to install the profile on this device:
   
3. Choose to sync contacts & calendars:
   
4. Generate an application password dedicated to synchronization (to keep the usual 2FA connection of your user account):
   
5. Copy the generated application password (you will be asked when installing the Apple profile).
6. Download Apple profile:
   
7. Allow the download on the device:
   
8. Open the iOS device settings:
   
9. Press the recently downloaded profile:
   
10. Press Install:
    
11. Unlock your iOS device:
    
12. Press Install:
    
13. Enter (or paste) the application password twice consecutively (contacts + calendars).
14. Apply on Complete:
    

If your iOS apps Contacts and Calendar were already open, they must be revived. You will then see the information added by synchronization.

Special features Contacts

If you add new contacts from the iPhone after a synchronization, they will be local, in the iPhone address book ("On my iPhone") instead of going in the synchronized notebook. You need to change this default setting in your application settings.

Unfortunately, you cannot retrieve information about contact groups. Indeed, iOS does not really use folders or groups. Apple tags/marks every contact with one or more categories but it's not a membership of a group.

Special features Calendars

By default, only your personal calendar is displayed in the application Calendar To display calendars shared by another user:

1. Open the app Calendar.
2. Touch Calendar At the bottom of the screen.
3. Select the shared calendars to display.
