Manage user rights kDrive
This guide explains the operation of user rights on kDrive and how you can change these access permissions.
Functioning of user rights
When adding a user to kDrive, two levels of permissions are available:
- Administrator offers users the same rights as the owner of the kDrive:
- sharing, statistics, activity reports, restore and delete folders, etc. and access files and folders
- User allows users to access folders at the root of the kDrive as well as to freely manage and share their content. However, users will not be able to access the administrative management of the product (manage users, view statistics, create or delete folders at the root of the drive, etc.).
- access to shared files and folders, personal directory and file creation/sharing
In summary:
- The folders at the root of a kDrive are private by default.
- Content of the directory Common folders is visible by other kDrive users but sharing may be restricted.
- Content shared by other users from their private part of the kDrive and content shared by users external to your kDrive appear in the menu Shares.
- Any folder or file can be shared with other kDrive users and contacts of your choice. Read more

Rights in the Organisation / Rights in kDrive
We have to distinguish...
- ... the rights granted for the management of the kDrive service on the Manager,
- ... and the rights granted to the user within the kDrive.
Indeed, a user may have Restricted or zero rights on the kDrive product in the Manager (so it will not have the possibility to manage the kDrive product itself or to have technical details - read below) but may have been defined as administrator in kDrive and thus have access to all stored data.
Here's the view from the dashboard of a administrator of an Infomaniak Organization:
There are 2 users in the Organization, including 1 access collaborator and 1 legal guardian (so having the maximum rights). The drop-down menu at the top right allows you to switch to a product-specific view of users, kDrive e.g.:
The second user who has access collaborator at the level of the Manager Infomaniak has access administrator within kDrive specifically. It will therefore access the shared files on kDrive but its interface will still be reduced in accordance with the restrictions on its status in the Organization...
... in contrast to the administrator (and legal responsibility of the Organization, thus having the maximum rights) which has access to all the details of the kDrive interface:
