Connecting via RDP (First connection to Cloud VPS / VPS Lite Windows)

This guide explains how to initialize your Cloud VPS / VPS Lite with Windows during the first connection.

Initializing a Cloud Server with Windows

You need to change the password of your Windows user before being able to connect via RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) to your server for the first time; otherwise, an error will be returned (indicating that the password needs to be changed).

To do this, you need to connect using the VNC console the very first time.

Once the user password is changed (via VNC), it will be possible to connect smoothly via RDP. This protocol is already enabled on Infomaniak Windows images.

Login Credentials

• username:
  • for Windows 10 & 11 Professional = Infomaniak
  • for Windows Server = Administrator
• password: the one you chose when ordering the server; in case of forgetfulness, please reset the server
• IP address: the one indicated in your server dashboard

Connect via RDP

• Windows: Remote Desktop is an included feature
• macOS: install the free application Microsoft Remote Desktop
• Linux: install the Remmina application
