Restore macOS with Acronis from Swiss Backup
This guide details how to restore a Apple macOS computer with the help of Acronis on Swiss Backup the backup solution in an independent Swiss cloud.
Prerequisites
- The Acronis application must be installed on the computer on which you wish to restore; use the same identifiers as those used to save the machine when recording the agent:
- Be aware of Acronis documentation on this subject.
- Click here in order to gain access to the Console Acronis with the identifiers obtained following the addition of the device (Need help?).
- Click on the button Add Top right.
- Click on Mac.
- Download and install the application.
Create a boot USB flash drive
To this end:
- Insert a blank USB flash drive of at least 4 GB into your Mac (please note: the data contained on the key will be deleted).
- Open the app Rescue Media Builder from folder Applications of the Finder Your Mac. This application was automatically installed with the Acronis application.
- Check the detected USB drive and click on Create Media.
Initiate restoration procedure
To this end:
- Restart the Mac with the boot USB drive.
- Depending on the macOS version press and hold a key of the keyboard pressed (be aware of this Apple guide to know which) when restarting.
- If necessary, click the USB boot drive to start it.
Configure and Launch Restore
To this end:
- Select your key on Rescue Media Builder:
- Click on Emergency start support:
- Click on Recovery:
- Click on Select Data:
- ... then on Browse:
- and select Cloud storage; then click on the button Log in:
- Use the device identifiers to authenticate:
- Choose the Mac to restore and click Okay. to start restoration:
- If you have chosen to encrypt your backups, the backup password will be asked:
- At the top of the screen, select the available backup you want to restore:
- Once the backup is selected, you will be able to select the type of item you want to restore from the bottom of the screen as well as the ones you want to restore; it is recommended to select the type Volumes and restore all available Volumes, this in order to restore all of your hard drive(s)... then launch the restore by the OK button:
- The restoration is then started, you can follow the progress through the Progress tab:
Once 100% your Mac will restart several times in a row (that's normal) until the entire process is complete.
