Video streaming: creating a simulcast with YouTube
This guide explains how to live broadcast a video on both the Infomaniak streaming platform and YouTube Live.
Requirements
Enable the "live" option on YouTube (this can take 24 hours): https://www.youtube.com/live_dashboard_splash
Enable the Simulcast option:
- Open the Manager (manager.infomaniak.com)
- Go to Video streaming
- Click on the relevant stream
- Enable the Simulcast option via the dashboard
Broadcasting a video on Infomaniak and YouTube
- Open the Manager (manager.infomaniak.com)
- Go to Video streaming
- Click on the relevant stream
- Go to Settings and then Options in the menu to the left
- Click on Configure in the Simulcast box
- Click on Add
- Select YouTube Live
- Choose a name for the simulcast and log in to the Google account that manages the YouTube channel
- Accept the conditions and click on Add
- The live broadcast on YouTube is visible on this page: https://www.youtube.com/my_live_events?o=U&ar=2
Important remarks:
- Warning: the stream will be sent directly to YouTube when added. If you want to schedule the simulcast:
- Disable the Enable this simulcast option when you add a simulcast
- Use the planning tool to define the times of your choice
- Your source stream must have a defined framerate (this is sometimes not the case with certain IP cameras).
- The simulcast is automatically cut off after the broadcast. You have two options to relaunch the simulcast:
- Enable the simulcast via the configuration of this option (cf. the procedure explained above)
- Program another event via the planning tool
