Import e-mails in MBOX format
This guide explains how to import emails from an archive in MBOX format to an Infomaniak email address.
Prerequisites
- Have an email address valid and functional with Infomaniak.
- Own an archive of your previous email to .mbox format.
Import e-mails in MBOX format...
...with Thunderbird
Install Thunderbird and configure the Infomaniak address in IMAP Then, to add the MBOX file import medium:
- Open Thunderbird.
- Click on the menu Tools.
- Click on Extensions and themes.
- Look for the extension ImportExportTools:
- Click on the button to install the extension ImportExportTools NG.
- Confirm the addition of the extension on Thunderbird:
- Create a new folder right-click in the local part of your account tree:
- Right-click on this new folder and choose to import a file mbox from the new extension menu ImportExportTools NG:
- Select File
.mbox
on your hard drive and import it. - The import of your e-mails is done in the local folder.
- This local folder can be moved to the main tree to be synchronized with the Infomaniak server by IMAP:
- Sending e-mails to the server is done and you find your content if you check the mailbox from another system, such as the Web app Mail Infomaniak (online service) mail.infomaniak.com) e.g. (or even Apple Mail or Microsoft Outlook - read below):
...with Outlook
There is a priori no solution free to convert a .mbox file to an Outlook .pst e.g. However, following the above solution, completely free, you will get your emails from the .mbox archive on your Infomaniak address.
Free to you then no longer use Thunderbird but continue with Microsoft Outlook in IMAP since all your messages will have been stored on Infomaniak servers.
