Importing emails in MBOX format

This guide explains how to import emails from an MBOX archive to an Infomaniak email address.

Prerequisites

• Have a valid and functional email address with Infomaniak
• Have an archive of your previous mailbox in .mbox format

Importing Emails in MBOX Format

with Thunderbird

Install Thunderbird and configure the Infomaniak address with IMAP using this guide (click here).

To add support for importing MBOX files:

1. Open Thunderbird
2. Click on the Tools menu
3. Click on Add-ons
4. Search for the ImportExportTools extension:
   
5. Click on the button to install the ImportExportTools NG extension
6. Confirm the addition of the extension to Thunderbird:
   
7. Create a new folder by right-clicking in the local part of your account tree:
   
8. Right-click on this new folder and choose to import an mbox file from the new ImportExportTools NG extension menu:
   
9. Select the .mbox file from your hard drive and import it
10. The import of your emails will be performed in the local folder
11. This local folder can be moved to the main tree to synchronize it with the Infomaniak server via IMAP:
    
12. Emails will be sent to the server and you will find your content if you access the mailbox from another system, such as Infomaniak Mail in a web browser for example:
