English: Copy Google Mail content (custom domain) to Infomaniak

This guide explains how to transfer to Infomaniak email addresses currently hosted by Google (with a custom domain). To import a simple Gmail address, read this guide (click here).

Google Prerequisites

Activate Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

It is imperative to activate two-factor authentication in G Suite - if necessary, the organization's administrator must first give users the ability to activate it from admin.google.com.
 

In the settings of your Google account (https://myaccount.google.com/), go to the Security tab and activate Two-Step Verification:

Create an Application Password

Once 2FA is enabled, go back to Two-Step Verification and scroll down to the application passwords section:

1. click on App passwords
2. if prompted, enter your Gmail account password
3. click on Select app and on Mail
4. click on Select device and select Other (Custom name)
5. give a name to your password (e.g., Infomaniak), it's just descriptive
6. click on Generate
7. copy or note the password displayed on the screen (it does not contain spaces)

Infomaniak Prerequisites
 

• own a Mail Service on your Infomaniak Manager
• have a quota of available addresses or order them if necessary:
   
  • log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox
  • click on the ‍ icon in the top right corner of the interface (or navigate through the left side menu, for example)
  • choose Mail Service (collaborative tools universe)
  • click on the name of the relevant item in the displayed table
  • click on the shopping cart icon in the top right corner:
    

Transfer Google Emails to Infomaniak

a. Recreate the Email Address(es) on Infomaniak

Access the Infomaniak Mail Service and create the email addresses:

1. Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox
2. Click on the icon in the top right of the interface (or navigate using the left sidebar menu, for example)
3. Choose Mail Service (universe Collaborative Tools)
4. Click on the name of the relevant object in the displayed table
5. Click the blue button Create an email address at the top right
6. Enter the address (what comes before the @ symbol) (e.g., contact or michelle)
7. Click the blue button Continue
8. Select I will consult the email alone
9. Click the blue button Continue
10. Enter a password
11. Click the blue button Continue
12. Click the blue button Finish
13. Repeat from point 5 above to recreate all email addresses identically

b. Import Google Mail Content to Infomaniak

Access the Infomaniak Mail Service and import your emails:

1. Log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) from a web browser like Brave or Firefox
2. Click on the icon in the top right of the interface (or navigate using the left sidebar menu, for example)
3. Choose Mail Service (universe Collaborative Tools)
4. Click on the name of the relevant object in the displayed table
5. Click on the chevron ‍ on the right side of the blue button Create an email address
6. Click on Import emails (direct link)
7. Click on Import my emails into a single email address
8. Enter the existing email address at Google
9. Enter the password for this email address
10. Click on Advanced settings
11. Enter imap.gmail.com in IMAP server address
12. Enter 993 in IMAP Port
13. Enable SSL and disable TLS
14. Click on the blue button Validate and continue
15. Enter the email address (which was recreated at Infomaniak in point a.6 above)
16. Click on the blue button Import emails
17. the import starts and runs in the background, an email is sent once the import is complete
18. Repeat from point 5 above to import the rest of the email addresses

Any "labels" or "tags" present in Gmail will be converted into folders in Infomaniak Mail (same principle as when fetching mail with an IMAP client like Thunderbird):

Adjust Mail Software Settings

Once you have made the necessary changes for the domain associated with your mail to work with Infomaniak, modify the settings of the mail software you use so that they connect properly to Infomaniak servers: follow the configuration wizard.
