Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
This guide explains how to enable two-factor authentication (2FA), also called two-step verification, to secure your connection to the Infomaniak Manager.
Prelude
- this two-step verification protects your account and personal data with a password of your choice and a second method of identity verification, such as a code obtained on your mobile device.
- if a malicious person manages to decipher or steal your password, they would still need a validation code that only the legitimate user can obtain on their mobile device.
Enable Two-Step Verification
To increase the security level of your Infomaniak account:
- log in to the Infomaniak Manager (manager.infomaniak.com) or Infomaniak Mail (mail.infomaniak.com) using a web browser like Brave or Firefox
- click on the dot with your initials or avatar at the top right
- select Manage my profile
click on Two-Step Verification in the Security and Recovery Settings box
- display and choose the authentication method from the following options:
- the kAuth app for iOS / Android to simply tap on a push notification YES / NO to allow or deny the connection
- any OTP app to get a unique login code at a specific moment
- YubiKey (from Yubico)
- SMS reception (only for countries CH / FR / BE / DE) to receive a unique login code at a specific moment
Follow the instructions displayed on the screen to complete the procedure. Carefully note the backup codes.
Attention to Existing Synchronizations
Once strong authentication is activated, it is necessary to create application passwords to access certain tools (like synchronization).
No need to call Infomaniak, which does not have any of your codes & passwords in its possession. For any assistance regarding 2FA, read this guide.
