Edit the domain name of a Mail Service

This guide explains how to replace the main domain name associated with a Mail Service in case you want e.g. to change the spelling of everything that comes after the arobase @ of your email address (= domain name).

Preamble

• You can also follow this procedure if the purpose is to have any new email addresses while keeping the history of your emails on Mail (since the email address will continue to exist, e.g. info@premier-domaine.xyz will become info@nouveau-domaine.xyz without modification of its content).
• Indeed. it is not possible to simply change the spelling the domain name concerned; it is therefore necessary to replace the current domain name associated with your email addresses with another domain name.
• To simply add a domain name additional, be aware of this other guide.
• To change the part of your email address coming before the arobase @, be aware of this other guide.
• Note also that you can rename your product (example) on the Manager Infomaniak but changing the name of a Service Mail has absolutely no impact on its addresses; you must act on the domain name.

Edit Mail Service domain name

Prerequisites

• Owning the new domain name (if necessary) Create it in advance).
• Be aware of the particulars of the this other guide in applying the particulars corresponding to your situation (this so that the domain name will work when it is attached to your Mail Service).

Once the new domain name is ready for use instead of the old one, you have to add it to the Service Mail and then make an inversion:

1. Click here in order to access the management of your product on the Manager Infomaniak (Need help?).
2. Click directly on the nameallocated to the product concerned.
3. Click on Domain management in the left side menu
   
4. Click on Service-related areas in the left side menu.
5. Click the blue button Add a related domain:
   

6. It is possible to:

   1. Search for an existing domain on the organization to which you are connected — this will link and automatically update the DNS area of the added domain.
   2. Add domain name or subdomain to manually indicate the domain name or subdomain to be used (ideal if the domain name is elsewhere).
   3. Buy a new domain name (read the prerequisites above).

   

a: The field exists at the United Nations level

1. Click on the proposed domain name:
   
2. Click the blue button Linking this domain:
   
3. Click on the icon ⋮ to the right of the new added domain name.
4. Click on Define as main domain(we must have dissociated the synonym domain name of the main domain name if there was a previous association):
   
5. Confirm the inversion and then wait for the time of the operation.
6. Click on the icon ⋮ to the right of the old domain name.
7. Click on Untie the domain:
   
8. Confirm detachment.

It's over, Service Mail now responds to a new domain name.

b: The field exists but elsewhere

1. Enter the domain name that will be used to replace the current name.
2. Enable update DNS entries (If the domain name situation permits, the domain name's DNS area will be automatically updated).
3. If item 2 above is active then enable replacement of any existing entries.
4. Enable Inversion the domain name (to avoid additional steps as in point "a" above).
5. Click the blue button Link this area:
   
6. Wait for the time of surgery.
7. Click on the icon ⋮ to the right of the old domain name.
