Transfer a domain name to Infomaniak

This guide explains how transfer domain name you own at another provider and take him to Infomaniak. You obviously remain the owner of your domain name and manage it easily at a lower cost.
 

Prerequisites

• Check that the domain name is good Transferable according to certain criteria:
  1. domain created or already transferred from at least 60 days
  2. e-mail addresses valid (owner's contact details, admin/technical contacts)
  3. field unlocked
• Note in a safe place the different records (A/MX/TXT, etc.) content in your domain if you will retain after transferring services other than Infomaniak.
• It is a matter of transferring a domain name that you own to a different provider of Infomaniak, so that future management of this domain can be done with Infomaniak.
  • It is therefore not an internal transfer. from one holder to another, and the code to be obtained is therefore not a code for an internal transfer to your current supplier.

Transfer the domain to Infomaniak

Once the above prerequisites have been validated:

1. Order the domain name to transfer Infomaniak.
2. Come in. the authorisation code (read the prerequisites above) when you are asked during the order.
3. Take note of the following DNS chapter and if necessary:
   1. Run a DNS diagnosis to check the Domain <-> Services Infomaniak link.
   2. Run a diagnostic Mail (SPF, DKIM...) to avoid any problems with sending or receiving.

Multiple domain transfers per batch

Once the above prerequisites have been validated:

1. Order domain names at once via this Infomaniak Transfer Assistant.
2. Indicate Domain names and authorisation codes or import a CSV file (format .csv or .xlsx) with the list of domains and their authorisation codes (in 2 columns and on 300 lines max.).

Duration of transfer, administrative deadlines

The duration of a domain name transfer is influenced by two factors:

1. The conditions of the register extension; for the .FR, Afnic sets a transfer time of up to 8 days ; refer to the specifics of extensions that concern you since this page (under Frequently Asked Questions by first clicking on the extension concerned).
2. The conditions of the Registrar you wish to leave; the Registrar has the possibility to oppose the transfer during the transfer period defined by the registry; he can also automatically accept the transfer and speed up.

Note that an update of DNS (read below) can take up to 24 hours.

DNS configuration (before, during, after)

• Before the transfer, your domain name is linked to different services (Mail, Web...) thanks to his DNS.
• While the transfer takes place, you will no longer be able to intervene on the DNS configuration until the transfer is complete.
• As it is sometimes difficult to know when this happens, you can decide in advance what to apply as a DNS configuration (also possible when transferring by lot):
  

For example:

1. Your domain name domain.xyz includes before transfer DNS ns1.monregistrar.com and ns2.monregistrar.com and You will only work with Infomaniak for everything that is email, web hosting, etc....
   • ...then you have nothing to do except choose our DNS when you will be asked when transferring (idem if it already includes DNS e.g. ns11.infomaniak.com and ns12.infomaniak.com).
      
2. Your domain name domain.xyz currently includes DNS ns1.monregistrar.com and ns2.monregistrar.com and you only move the domain name while continuing to work with different services other than Infomaniak...
   • ...then Please note the information contained in your current DNS area (records A, CNAME, etc.) as Infomaniak cannot guarantee that your current DNS area will persist where it is currently (check with your current registration office) and choose not to use Infomaniak DNS.
      
3. And if you don't know what DNS is currently using your domain name...
   • ... question the latter via https://infomaniak.com/whois or other WHOIS service.
      
4. If your domain name domain.xyz already contains DNS of form e.g. ns11.infomaniak.com and ns12.infomaniak.com Before transfer...
   • ...then you have nothing to do except choose our DNS when you are asked during the transfer.
