Resolve a password request for an audio stream
This guide explains how to prevent a radio streaming from requesting a password when connecting to the audio stream.
Restricted Streams
If stream protection is enabled and the token is not or incorrectly generated, the prompt (password request) will be visible. The same goes for users outside the criteria of geographical restrictions that may have been activated on the stream.
Rarer: a breakdown
The receiving server is the server to which your encoder connects to broadcast your stream. The broadcast servers connect to the receiving server and broadcast your stream to listeners. If the receiving server fails, another backup server takes over. This architecture ensures the broadcasting of thousands of streams to tens of thousands of listeners, minimizing downtime as much as possible.
In case of breakdown, Infomaniak teams are automatically notified (no need to call) and strive to restore the situation as quickly as possible. If necessary, Infomaniak sends an email to all its radio clients informing them of the causes of the breakdown.
The breakdown of a single broadcast server causes the disconnection of thousands of listeners at the same time, who then attempt to reconnect. This causes an overload and results in a password request being displayed to listeners. It is then necessary to retry connecting about thirty seconds later. Generally, the situation returns to normal after a few minutes.
