Manage tracking of a Newsletter (opening statistics, etc.)

This guide explains how to disable or reactivate tracking (tracking in your next one) Newsletter Infomaniak.

Preamble

• A tracker, or tracker, is a small element (a 1 pixel image or a special link) inserted in the Newsletter.
• When the recipient opens the email, the image is downloaded from the sender's server, which records the opening.
  • Not all email software/clients systematically load images, and some users choose to disable them; this means that a person who has read the e-mail can be counted as never having opened.
• Links in the Newsletter are transformed into redirect links via the tracking server, saving clicks.
  • Some email tools, such as Outlook, automatically explore the links contained in the email, saving an opening even if the user has never consulted it.
• Trackers are used to collect various data useful to marketers, such as:
  • Opening rate to find out how many people have opened the Newsletter
  • Office opens to determine when the newsletter is open
  • Geographical location based on the IP address of the recipient
  • Device type and software to know the device (computer, smartphone, tablet) and the software (navigator, software/mail client) used to read the Newsletter
  • Click rate to measure how many people click on the links in the Newsletter
  • Conversions to follow if the recipients carry out specific actions after opening the Newsletter (purchases, registrations, etc.)

Disable statistics

To access your Newsletter:

1. Click here in order to access the management of your product on the Manager Infomaniak (Need help?).
2. Click on the domain name relevant in the table that appears.
3. The interface of the Newsletter is displayed.

By deactivating the statistics, the links that you will insert inside the body of your Newsletter will no longer be transformed and you will not have a statistical return of the use that is made of your Newsletter by your recipients.
