Package evolution
Once you have started hosting your site with Infomaniak, one of our strong points is the ongoing development of your hosting and the related tools.
A website hosted for several years will have benefit from the same PHP version as a new customer who has just registered for hosting services, and that has applied to all our customers since 1996.
This technology also allows us to move your website to newer servers or those less in demand in a manner in a transparent way in order to guarantee you have the best quality service overall.

Update on our ecological charter
Around 2 years ago, we implemented an ecological charter that included more than 30 very
specific commitments ( http://www.infomaniak.ch/ecology/ ) for example:
• using 100% hydroelectric power for all our data centres and offices.
• electric-powered company vehicle
• bicycles available to our staff when they have to travel around.
Our commitments to reduce our company’s environmental footprint are improved regularly. Here,
for example, are two new measures that have come into force this year:
• Our new pension fund for all our staff contributions has been certified as ecological and ethical (
www.nest-info.ch )
• We offset CO2 emissions by the company, to include our employees’ transport to their place of
work right down to offsetting the CO2 used to manufacture the servers we buy, for example
(myclimate certification, http://www.myclimate.org/fr.html )
We invite you to read the pages on our site that describe our company’s project in striving to
respect our environment to the maximum.

Payments by IBAN/SEPA bank transfers
Another long-awaited innovation: we are now able to accept IBAN transfers for settlement of your
invoices. Each time an invoice is issued you will find the necessary details in your admin console, under “Administration”, then “Billing”; an “IBAN” link at the bottom of
the page will give you the references you should use as well as an 8-letter code which is vital for
you to put as the subject for the transfer so that the link between your transfer and your contract
can be established automatically. However, this method of payment is not accepted for the first
invoice and thus during the registration phase.

Outsourcing of email for your hosting
From now on it is possible to externalise the email service (MS Exchange or Google Apps for
example) while continuing to take advantage of all our other services. In order to do so, just go to
the admin console ( http://admin.[sDomaine] ), under the “DNS” menu and use the new link “MX
management”. First you can confirm that you do in fact want to manage your email service
yourself, then specify the servers where it will be directed. The reverse operation is also possible,
needless to say.

The space for your personal data has been increased from 5 to 40 GB
The 5 GB space allowed for backups for your personal data (accessible from your admin console) has undergone a spectacular increase to 40 GB! 40 GB so you can carry out your personal backups and store your documents securely. This particular space is also available with immediate effect as a network share from your workstation by simply dragging and dropping files between your machine and the secure backup space as if it were a local disk (WebDav). To learn about the convenience this gives you, just take a look at our
video guides which will explain how it all works and la prise en main on Windows and on Mac

Planning execution of scripts
A new application will be appearing in your admin console: CronJob. It allows you to launch any type of script installed on your website, and this applies 7/7, 365 days a year. This is an adaptation of crontab which is familiar from Unix. This new feature is available on your admin console in the Tools/Cronjob menu.

The memory for executing your scripts has gone from 48 to 64 MB
The memory allocated for executing your scripts has been boosted from 48 MB to 64MB. This increase will satisfy even scripts consuming the most resources. You can increase this limit to 128 MB at any time from your admin console.
22 September 2009
disk space for your website has been increased from 50 to 60 GB
The disk space associated with your site has been raised from 50 GB to 60 GB, with immediate effect.

New features for managing and sending your newsletters
There is a special new tool for you to send newsletters available in your admin console. This
service includes among other things:
• Sending targeted messages according to the criteria you set when you subscribe
• Creating groups of subscribers thanks to the criteria you set
• Automatic deletion of subscribers who want to unsubscribe
• Online subscription, adding, deleting, importing and exporting members
• Managing invalid addresses after sending a newsletter
• Back-up of historic data and back-up of your various templates
Newsletters are available in the new "Mailing List/Newsletters" menu (which is accessible from
your admin console admin.(domainname).com).
Previous mailing lists will now be called "discussion lists" and have been replaced in the new
"Mailing List" menu where we will be grouping them from now on.
The discussion lists are recommended when you want to create one address that groups several
other addresses; this is very practical for example if you suggest it to all the members of your
sports club so that you can all send each other messages by writing to one address only that
groups all the club members: you can be sure that each person writing to members will not forget
anyone and that members won’t receive the list from other addresses each time in the “To” and
“CC “ fields of your messages.
If you are using our previous system to send your messages and you want to migrate to the new
newsletters, here is a video guide that gives you details of how to recover a list and how to
reimport it into the new tool :

The memory allocated for your scripts is going to be increased from 16 to 48 Mb, to start with
Currently there are no restrictions to the number of email addresses and the disk space for each address. In contrast we keep all the messages received for 12 months in the inbox and in all the sub-folders. The "Spam" and "Waste basket" folders are stored for a fortnight and purged automatically, so that you don't have to empty them regularly yourself (and this procedure will carry on).
From today on we will no longer purge (erase) the *sub-folders*, the messages saved there will therefore be stored and saved indefinitely in our data centre.
Pay attention however to messages arriving in the inbox folder that have not been moved after 12 months: they will be automatically erased as before.
In order to keep your messages you just need to put them in a sub-folder of your choice (using Webmail or with a mail software using the IMAP protocol). They are restricted as to the number of files per folder (5'000) but there is not restriction to the number of folders. Anyone using an email account on your hosted site can therefore keep an indefinite number of messages on our installations that are secured and backed up daily.
These new rules only affect people using the IMAP protocol or Webmail to read their email. Those people using POP3 cannot actually take advantage of this archival since, as soon as email has been downloaded, it is transferred to the user's workstation and is automatically erased from our servers. You can find more information on the differences between POP3 and IMAP

The memory allocated for your scripts is going to be increased from 16 to 48 Mb, to start with
For the next 3 weeks we will be organising the increase in memory for your scripts. You'll be notified in a few days about the exact date for this update which will take place in the early hours of the morning. Once this new limit has been installed, you should get in contact with us if you need even more memory.
A tool remains available to you in your admin console in order to change the execution time for scripts to 5 minutes and 128 Mb for one hour.
